Mercedes-Benz Receiver Hitches

A Receiver hitch provides the physical connections to the frame of your vehicle on the back side and an opening to install a ball mount, pintle hitch for towing and allows the attachment of other hitch accessories to your vehicle.

The size of trailer you can tow is determined by the towing capability of the vehicle you are using and a receiver hitch capable of handling the gross trailer weight and tongue weight. Receiver hitches are rated in classes with most receiver hitches in Class I through Class III.
  • Class 1 receiver hitches and trailers are small and lightweight they often include small utility, jet ski and motorcycle trailers and can be pulled by most vehicles including many subcompact cars. Bike racks and cargo boxes are also supported in this class. The maximum gross trailer weight is 2000 Lb with a maximum tongue weight of 200 Lb.
  • Class 1I trailers often include utility, jet ski, motorcycle, small RV/camper, and small boat trailers and can be pulled by most vehicles except subcompact cars. Bike racks and cargo boxes are also supported in this class. The maximum gross trailer weight is 3500 Lb with a maximum tongue weight of 350 Lb.
  • Class 1II trailers often include utility, jet ski, motorcycle, 2 ATV, small-medium RV/camper, and small to medium boat trailers and normally an van/SUV or heavier vehicle is required as a towing vehicle. Bike racks and cargo boxes are also supported in this class. The maximum gross trailer weight is 7500 Lb with a maximum tongue weight of 750 Lb.
